Who Gives the Cavs the Most Intriguing Match-Up?

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the top dog in the Eastern Conference and many have them pegged to reach the NBA Finals. But, to make it to the NBA Finals, they will need to go through, what will end up being the second best team in the Eastern Conference. There are a few teams that have a chance to give this Cavs team a run in a 7-game Eastern Conference Finals series, but which team would give us the most exciting one?

The Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards are the three teams that the Cavs should be on the lookout for.

The Raptors have played the Cavs three times this season and have yet to get a win. They will match-up with the Cavs one more time and will need to win that game to spark any sort of conversation that they can make it exciting in the playoffs. Although, they have lost all of the games so far this season against the Cavs, they haven’t lost any by a big margin. The first game they lost by three, the next by four, and the most recent loss was by four. The trouble is that they have lost two of the three games on their home court. In order to take down this Cavs teams, you must win the home games, especially when the playoffs roll around.

The Wizards have played two of their three scheduled games against the Cavs and have lost both. The troubling part about the two losses is that they were both at home. The first game was by double digits, but the second was a close game that ended in overtime. The Wizards are lead by John Wall who is beasting this season, averaging 22.5 points and 10.9 assists per game so far, and they are only getting better with their new bench players. They added Bojan Bogdanovic and Brandon Jennings, so they have a much improved bench. These guys will be needed if the Wizards are going to make a deep playoff run and potentially take down the reigning champions.

The Celtics have played the Cavs three times so far this season, with one game left on the schedule, and are 1-2 against the defending champs. The first two games were played in Cleveland and both were six point losses, but the game they did win came in Boston and was won by four. This is the first good sign for the Celtics. Anytime you have to go to Cleveland to play the best team in the East that is no easy task, but if you can get a win at your home arena then you are in business. The only problem with only winning the home games is that the Cavs’ will have homecourt advantage, meaning that if the Celtics wanted to beat the Cavs and advance to the NBA Finals they would need to steal a game on the road.

Another reason the Celtics are the most exciting matchup against the Cavs is their best player, Isaiah Thomas. He has been remarkable this season, averaging 29.6 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, and has been a beast in the 4th quarter. Thomas has been a firecracker for the Celtics and that is the type of player that could take down the Cavs. Now, the Celtics have a long way to go from being a no doubt contender for the Cavs, but their most recent win against the defending champs is a great start.
