Earlier today it looked like Reggie Jackson was headed to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez. Then as the deadline approached, this three team trade emerged. OKC was able to get great value for Reggie Jackson, considering everyone knew they had to get rid of him. Detroit was able to get the point guard they wanted and the Jazz were able to get a first-round pick for Kanter as they hoped.
It was evident all day the Pistons planned on making a move, especially for a point guard. It was a little surprising they traded D.J. Augustin, considered how well he was playing. The Pistons must see Reggie Jackson as their future point guard, considering Jackson is a free-agent at the end of the season. The Pistons are hoping Jackson will re-sign this off-season.
OKC made out great in this deal, this move solidified their bench. They now have a quality backup point guard and center, D.J. Augustin and Ene Kanter. Not to mention they were able to trade an unhappy player, in Reggie Jackson. Kyle Singler and Steve Novak aren’t terrible players to have at end of the bench either. This might of been the best move of the day, as always, time will tell.
The Jazz looked they were likely keeping Kanter, until this trade developed. So this worked out for them, they were able to fulfill Kanter’s trade request and get the first-round pick they desired. This trade will also allow them to give Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors more minutes. Most of us know Gobert has been one of the most exciting players in the league this year.
