J.R. Smith on the Block

The Knicks have been one of the worse teams in NBA this season, yet have one of the highest payrolls in the league. So with the December 15th looming, the first day teams can sign free agent signings from September 16th and prior. The Knicks will be one of the teams trying to make moves, either trying to pick up future assets, upgrading the roster, or even just trying to dump salaries. It’s unknown what they look to do, but Chris Broussard is reporting who they are actively looking to trade and that is J.R. Smith.
“With free agents who signed before Sept. 16 becoming available for trade Dec. 15, the Knicks could look to make roster changes soon -- with sources saying J.R. Smith is the player they'd most like to trade.”-Via ESPN’s Chris Broussard
J.R. Smith is a talented player, the problem is you just need to keep him under control. He has a tendency to get out of control on offense, attempting to many long-range jump shots or trying to take on the opposing team 5-on-1. He also can lose focus defensively, but with that said he can still light it up any given night. So if a team feels they can keep him under control, he is worth the risk, he is only a few seasons removed from being a Sixth Man of the Year candidate.
