The Phoenix Suns’ Strong Start Is One of This NBA Season’s Best Stories

Photo Courtesy of ABC No one expected such a hot start from the Phoenix Suns. A modest leap forward, sure, but nothing like what we’ve seen from Devin Booker and Co. After all, this franchise won a grand total of 19 games last year, and the team is in the midst of a nine season playoff drought. Improvement has been drastically lacking and needed. This summer Phoenix brought in Monty Williams as head coach, and a few crafty veterans to round out the roster. The team got just a

5 Mega Over-Reactions to Early Action Across the NBA

5 mega over-reactions to early action across the NBA AP Photo The 2019-20 NBA season is still in its infancy; at most, teams have played a handful of games. That hasn’t stopped fans and media members alike from letting loose some egregiously hot takes. Here’s what we’ve learned about the NBA so far, from the people who love the Association the most. I won’t name names, but go ahead and note the sarcasm. Devin Booker for MVP AP Photo No Ayton, no Rubio, no problem. The short-h

2019-20 NBA Team Preview Series: Phoenix Suns

Jennifer Stewart-USA TODAY Sport The 2019-2020 NBA season starts October 22nd and to get you ready for tip-off, Off the Glass is previewing all 30 teams. Today we look at the Phoenix Suns. 2018-2019 Record: 19-63, 5th in the Pacific Division. Season Recap: There is not much to say about the Phoenix Suns season. They have been an awful team since the 2015-16 season where they finished with the fourth worst record in the league and have found themselves with records worse than

2019-20 NBA Schedule: The Worst Games of the Season

Detroit Bad Boys The NBA just released the official schedule for the 2019-20 season. Already articles from OTG, ESPN, Bleacher Report, and many others have released enticing works on the best matchups of the coming season. Plenty of information is available on such story lines as the Christmas slate of games, and which team has to travel the longest distance during their campaign. There’s importance in knowing when the first time the new look Los Angeles team’s duke it out ag

James Jones and the New Look Phoenix Suns

For The Win - USA Today The Phoenix Suns will have a very different look this coming season. Gone is Ryan McDonough as General Manager. Though he was gone prior to the start of this past season, the roster entering the season was his. James Jones was an Interim and has now been promoted as the franchise’s full-time GM. He’s already made his presence known and has made it clear that he felt the team was in serious need of a remodel. Head Coach Igor Kokoskov is no longer a thin

    Holy Turnover, Batman!

Photo is Courtesy of Clutch Points Phoenix has been anything but a secure location for NBA players over the last couple seasons. Two things are certain in Phoenix: it’s hot, and you won’t be a Sun for long. Anyone that went to play for the Suns over that time frame was in and out of the valley fairly quickly -- the Phoenix Suns had more turnover than a bakery. But wait! you say: the Suns have been terrible. Isn’t it smart to move bad players out the door, and give opportuniti

Ricky Rubio Looking to Make the Suns Brighter

George Frey What’s the deal? 3 Years, $51 million unrestricted signing. What does Rubio bring to the Suns? After Phoenix turned their Isaiah Thomas-Goran Dragic-Eric Bledsoe point guard surplus into a barren wasteland, Rubio brings maturity and stability to the position. On a team full of score-first, defend-never players, Rubio’s pass-first mentality and consistent defensive focus are a welcome addition and, in many ways, a strong fit. What does this move mean for the Suns?

2019 NBA Draft Lottery Winners and Losers

AP The anticipation for the Zion Williamson sweepstakes ended in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night when the New Orleans Pelicans, who are facing the specter of losing their franchise player Anthony Davis, came out of nowhere to grab the chance at taking the Duke freshman phenom as the no.1 overall pick in the upcoming Draft. To recap, here is the 2019 Draft Lottery Order and their no.1 pick odds: 1. New Orleans Pelicans (6.0%) 2. Memphis Grizzlies (6.0%) 3. New York Knicks (1

NBA Trade Deadline Grades: Western Conference Edition

NBC Sports Looking for the East? Check here to see my thoughts on their moves: the top teams revved up for the right to face the Warriors (probably) while the bottom-feeders went Cryin' for Zion. Let's work our way down the Western standings. 1. Golden State Warriors (39-15) To the surprise of no one, Golden State stood pat at the deadline. Their big acquisition came a few weeks ago on January 18th, when DeMarcus Cousins played his first game in a Warriors uniform. They may n

Warren would be a relatively cheap, but substantial upgrade to the roster. Giving away a slew of players and a pick should do the trick for Detroit. At 25-years-old, Warren is averaging 18.3 PPG and can score in a variety of ways. Fortunate

The Suns on-the-court product is as promising as ever, but behind the scenes, trouble looms in Phoenix. A dispute over arena funding has team owner Robert Sarver threatening to move the team to Seattle or Las Vegas. The Suns’ bright future may come to light outside of Arizona. Fan attendance is way down in Phoenix, further complicating this precarious situation. Perhaps the front office doesn’t have time to nurture and grow its young core. Instead, the Suns ought to swing for

5 Teams That Should Trade for Jimmy Butler

Heavy.com Jimmy Butler’s recent meeting with Minnesota Timberwolves’ brass set the NBA rumor-mill ablaze over the weekend, and for good reason. Trades and gossip are a hot commodity in the basketball world, as are all-star wings in their prime. Whether the Wolves intend to trade Butler has yet to be determined. But even with a sniff of blood in the water, opportunistic sharks are quick to follow. While some clubs, like the Lakers for example, would be wise to wait until this

The surgery was performed by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Booker initially injured his hand on March 14, jamming it during practice. He went on to miss the last 12 games of the year and was wearing a splint in order to help improve his status. He was able to work ou

So go ahead and slap this while you read about the teams who have gone years without seeing the postseason promised land and my thoughts on when they could possibly get back.
